Rex Foundation Announces New Board Members
San Francisco, California (April 28, 2011) – The Rex Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to supporting distinctive arts, environmental and social services initiatives through grassroots giving and innovative programs, is excited to announce the addition of four new members to our board of directors.
Our four new members are:
Trixie Garcia – Bay Area artist, daughter of Jerry Garcia and Carolyn “Mountain Girl” Adams, Trixie is currently creating art to reflect her experience growing up in the Grateful Dead “scene,” as well as volunteering for local causes and working to help preserve her father’s legacy.
Marc Morgenstern – Managing Partner of Blue Mesa Partners, Marc is co-located in San Francisco and Cleveland.Â Marc has been a director of public companies and numerous private companies, and is currently a Director of Cardinal Commerce, Cohesant and Within3.Â Marc is also active in numerous civic and non-profit activities.Â A passionate musician,Â he has been on the board of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum for almost 20 years, and chaired numerous committees.
Brad Serling – “A Johnny Appleseed of online concert recordings,” according to The New York Times, Brad has been active in the digital media world for 20 years.Â Brad started nugs.net in 1993 as a way to share the tapes he was making of Grateful Dead and Phish shows.Â Today, 115 million downloads later, hundreds of artists and labels partner with nugs.net to distribute music directly to their fans.
Joan Valliant – Growing up in a California winemaking family, the Valliant Winery in Cienega Valley, Joan has been involved in the arts as an abstract painter all her life.Â A graduate of San Jose University, with a major in painting and minor in art history, Joan continues to do her abstract oils while enjoying the best that life in Stinson Beach, California can offer.
