Supporting Rex-On Wall Street
Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places…
Even Wall Street, as investor Deb Solomon discovered a few years back when she found her networking resources falling a bit short.
“I needed to meet new people on Wall Street,” she recalls. “Every networking event I went to started to feel like a reunion. I knew there had to be a better way.” And she didn’t have far to look.
“I wear my love for the Grateful Dead on my sleeve,” Solomon explains, “and it has helped me form solid business relationships in the past. So why not bring it all together?”
In December 2012, Solomon hosted the first Wall Street Dead aHead Networking Event, bringing entrepreneurs, investors, and other financial professionals together for tunes and mutually beneficial conversations. She soon discovered that between their professional activities and their love for the Grateful Dead, there was no shortage of things to talk about–and that, thanks to the roster distributed to participants, the connections went on long after the event itself.
“These networking events are built on common music interests, with the goal of forming lasting business relationships and friendships in a more relaxed environment than most of us work in daily,” she explains. “Attendees are able to enjoy live music, have cocktails and network with people who have both music and financial experience as conversation-starting commonalities.
“I have met the most amazing business folks and new friends. It has become everything I had hoped it would be, and the response from the Wall Street Dead aHead Family has been incredible!” she adds. “It has been an awesome ‘Long Strange Trip’ the way it has all come together.”
With an impressive roster of sponsors, this year’s sold-out event takes place at Tir Na Nog in NYC on October 20. The Rex Foundation is pleased and honored to be the Affiliate Charity for this year’s event, and we look forward to some great conversations at the event.
