We're inviting all our fans and supporters to be part of the

Since the Grateful Dead's first Rex Benefit in the spring of 1984, fans have made it possible for the Rex Foundation to grant $8.3 million to over 1,000 programs across the United States and internationally. The Rex Foundation grants support grassroots programs working in bold, innovative ways to secure a healthy environment, promote individuality in the arts, provide social and economic justice, preserve indigenous cultures, build strong communities and educate children and adults everywhere.

Get on board the Rex Community Caravan with your $5 or more donation.

We often talk about our desire to make a positive difference in our communities, yet may not know where to begin, or feel our efforts might not be enough to have significant effect.

The Rex Community Caravan is an easy way to get on board a virtual bus filled with kindred spirits. The fare of $5 or more puts you on board the bus of Rex Foundation giving where grants are provided to grassroots programs doing innovative and helpful work in all the areas described by our Mission.

If miles were dollars and stops were grantees, then the Rex Foundation bus has traveled $8 million miles, making 1,000 stops along the way.

Now, more than ever, we've got to cover just a little more ground and want to travel with as many people on board as possible.

Five dollars for many of us is an everyday expenditure on items of choice

  • A muffin and cup of coffee or tea
  • Not quite one movie ticket
  • A magazine at the newsstand
  • A glass of wine
  • One hot dog and soda at a game, fair or concert

Yet, many fives, busloads on the Rex Community Caravan, add up quickly to tens of thousands of dollars.

Here are 5 examples from past Rex beneficiaries to help quantify what your fives can do when contributed through the Rex Community Caravan:

  • For Mwangaza Tanzania, $250 allows youth from rural villages in Tanzania to travel to larger towns for medical treatment. That's 50 fives on the Caravan.
  • For Parent's Circle, $600 brings explanatory material to 30 Israeli and Palestinian students so they can gain greater awareness about the consequences of conflict and how to choose reconciliation over revenge. That's 130 fives on the Caravan.
  • At Drums Not Guns, $2,000 provides ten educational workshops for youth in San Francisco so they can learn about alcohol and drug addiction, job skills, family planning, violence prevention and other subjects that will help prevent them from getting or staying involved with negative and unhealthy lifestyles. That's 400 fives.
  • For the U'Wa Defense Project, $1,200 provides instruments for U'Wa and Nasa youth in Columbia for a weeklong music-exchange event helping to celebrate their culture through music and discourage them from joining the corrupt and violent militia. That's 240 fives
  • For Little Kids Rock, $1,250 supports an average elementary school class a year of music education. That's 250 fives on the Caravan.

What's listed here adds up to just over $5,000 or 1,000 people each contributing $5, or 200 people contributing $25 each or 100 people contributing $50 each.

Imagine the possibilities if everyone reading this message contributed $5 or more.

Help the world thrive by giving Rex Five or More. Let's make a positive difference together.
