Celebrating the life and music of the late Scott Larned,
Dark Star Orchestra co-founder and keyboardist

Featuring
Dark Star Orchestra

From DSO's website: "Thanks to everyone who came out to the third Black Tie-Dye Ball, held in Washington DC last Saturday and to all who couldn't come but made a donation to the Rex through their website. The silent auction brought in thousands of dollars including $3900 for an acoustic guitar signed by Rex board member Bob Weir.

The Washington Jazz Art Institute student combo played during the opening reception while attendees dined on "hearty finger food" and mingled with Donna Jean Godchaux-Mackay, Rob Barraco and members of Dark Star Orchestra.

After being greeted by Rex Foundation chairperson Sandy Sohcot the capacity crowd was treated to an original setlist show that opened with The Wheel and included Mr. Charlie, Let Me Sing Your Blues Away, Viola Lee Blues, King Solomon's Marbles and other long-retired chestnuts. Lisa Mackey and Donna Jean traded off singing the background vocals, teaming up for I'll Take A Melody and Franklin's Tower.
