Cubensis Thanksgiving Feast, Concert and Grateful Dead Karaoke Returns to L.A.
More details (and poster art) coming soon, but we wanted to let you know that our good friends Cubensis have announced the 2014 version of their annual Thanksgiving Feast, Concert, and Grateful Dead Karaoke event, a beloved holiday tradition in the Los Angeles area for many years now. Feast with friends old and new, then dance the night away to the band’s lively renditions of Grateful Dead tunes.
Another beloved holiday tradition: you can make a donation of $20 or more to the Rex Foundation—and sing and/or play the Dead song of your choice, backed by Cubensis! This year for the first time there’s also a silent auction of Grateful Dead and Cubensis memorabilia, with the proceeds benefiting Rex. Among the cool items up for bidding are rare backstage passes from the 1991 tour (donated by Rex Executive Director and former GDP President Cameron Sears), and various poster art including an authentic Rick Griffin-designed showbill from the 1990 Europe tour, valued at $500.
The fun starts at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, when the doors open at The Mint, 6010 W. Pico, Los Angeles. The potluck dinner starts at 3 p.m.; music and Grateful Dead karaoke get started at 5. Starting November 1, you’ll be able to sign up for karaoke on the band’s Facebook page.
