The Campaign for the Fair Sentencing of Youth is a national coalition and clearinghouse that leads, coordinates, develops, and supports efforts to implement fair and age-appropriate sentences for youth, with a focus on abolishing life without parole sentences for youth. It is the only organization focused exclusively on ending this most extreme sentence and, as such, on laying a foundation for further reforms to account for the differences between youth and adults. Because of misinformation, racial stereotyping, and decades of wrongheaded policies, the CFSY’s most significant challenge is lack of political will, which highlights the importance of a coordinated, high-impact advocacy movement.
