Started in 2003, Warrior Films creates important works of film and TV art that serve social change. The mission is “Bearing Witness, Creating Change.” The films bear witness to people’s real-life struggles to achieve a better life for themselves and their children. The film maker then shapes those often painful truths into suspenseful and emotional stories. The powerful stories are then used to inspire viewers to take action. Finally, Warrior Films partners with those viewers to implement positive social change in their own families and communities. Founder Frederick Marx has been nominated for Academy and Emmy awards and is best known for his film Hoop Dreams. His next film, Rites of Passage–The Right of Every Child Born (working title) is a 90-minute feature-length documentary that aims to do for rites of passage what An Inconvenient Truth did for global warming–bring it out of the underground into the cultural mainstream.
