SF Giants Jerry Garcia Tribute–THANK YOU!

Rex Foundation Executive Director Sandy Sohcot says:

On Monday, August 9, 2010, 15 years since Jerry passed away, the Rex Foundation was honored to be designated by the San Francisco Giants as the recipient of proceeds from their special tribute game with the Chicago Cubs.

Leora Lawton, a friend as well as a Grateful Dead and Jewish Studies scholar, pointed out that while a birthday is a celebration of a person’s potential, honoring a person on the anniversary of their passing, their “yartzheit” in Jewish practice, is a celebration of all that this person accomplished in their life.  It means a great deal to us to be part of this celebration, and that the continuing work of the Rex Foundation is part of Jerry Garcia’s rich legacy.

We’d like to thank everyone who made this wonderful evening of baseball, music, and good vibes benefiting the Rex Foundation possible.

Check out the video on the Giants Web site. And, as you can see from these pictures (click for larger image), everyone had a great time. Even better, the Giants won… in The Eleventh!
