Based in San Francisco, Food Runners helps to alleviate hunger in San Francisco, prevent waste and create a community. In 2019, Food Runners relayed over 18 tons of food a week that would otherwise be discarded or composted. This was enough for 24,000 meals every week. Since the advent of the COVID-19 Pandemic, and San Francisco’s Shelter-In-Place directive, Food Runners has pivoted their services to meet the community’s needs. They have opened a satellite kitchen and are using donated food to cook meals and deliver them to recipients and agencies helping San Franciscans in need.
