Lauder/JCD Youth Camp

Every summer, around 1500 Jewish campers from over 20 countries attend Camp Szarvas, which is sponsored by the Ronald S. Lauder Foundation and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (AJJDC). Each summer 70-75 Szarvas Fellows are selected to represent North America at the camp. As American Ambassadors, they are given the unique opportunity to meet, celebrate, explore and share experiences with their Jewish student peers from around the world.

The Ronald S. Lauder Foundation
The Foundation, which is 25 years old, has impacted Jewish life throughout Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union by opening up schools and youth centers across the region. One of its crown Jewels is Camp Szarvas which has served over 25,000 campers since its inception in 1990. The Fellowships are administered through the Ronald S. Lauder foundation. Since 1914, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee has served as the overseas arm of the American Jewish community. The JDC’s mission is to serve the needs of Jews throughout the world, particularly where their lives as Jews were threatened or made more difficult merely because they were Jewish.
