Parks & People Foundation
For more than 30 years, the Parks & People Foundation has been revitalizing communities in Baltimore through greening programs for neighborhoods and educational and recreational programs for children.
Parks & People also operates a workforce training program called BRANCHES (Building Resources & Nurturing Community Health & Environmental Stewardship) for youth 14-21 years old. The BRANCHES program seeks to address several critical community needs: the program offers part-time, after school and summer paid employment to young people from the community, giving them the resources they need to not only gain meaningful employment in the green sector in the future, but also to become stewards of the natural environment.
To achieve this, the young people are undertaking community and park greening projects which impact blight reduction. Many of the graduates of this program are able to obtain full-time, living-wage employment with our Foundation on our field crews or in program administration
