Report From Rex Grantee Budding Artist Foundation

The Budding Artist Foundation, a 2021 Rex grantee, sends us this report on your kind donations at work:

“Your generous grant allowed us to support a visual arts program called ArtSeed. ArtSeed was founded in 2000 by teaching artist, Josefa Vaughan, with the goal to bring into the lives of young people a life-long love for creativity, knowledge, and generosity. Its mission is to connect diverse communities and cultures through professional artists who interact with them in fine arts studio projects and long-term apprenticeships.

“This year’s Fine Arts Summer intensive Camp Identity, Intimacy and Social Norms was held July 11 – 15. Six young artists ages 11 -17 selected from San Francisco schools had the unique opportunity to explore anatomical drawing, self-portraits, landscapes through collage, mixed media, acrylic, watercolor and pastels. The week also included special guest artists, a trip to the Asian Art Museum and culminated in a reception and exhibit of their artwork at the Tides Converge in the Presidio on September 20, 2022.”
