At this year’s Gathering of the Vibes, young singer/songwriter Henry Sidle, who’s been inspired by the Rex Foundation’s work, performed his original composition “The World As It Could Be” and was interviewed by GOTV performer and longtime Rex supporter David Gans. A near show-stopping thunder-and-lightning storm couldn’t stop generous souls from giving during the New Riders’ Rex Jam at Gathering of the Vibes. Thanks to their kindness, eight first-time musicians now have instruments and are playing in the (school) band.
The Rex Foundation would like to thank the following festivals for including us as one of their non-profits at their 2008 Festivals! It is with collective efforts we are able to give back to the communities in their areas.
The Rex Community Caravan went on Festival Tour this summer with Rex Jams at many of the following Festivals. Proceeds totaling $10,709 went to support Music and Arts related programs in their communities.
WHAT IS A REX JAM? A Rex Jam is a specified tune or “jam” designated by the band. During the jam, Rex Volunteers circulate through the audience collecting donations for the designated grantee.
The Rex Community Caravan is our virtual grassroots community, where together, we further what the Grateful Dead started 25 years ago.
