Lunch at the Soul Food Project

chefs and project coordinatorsA Rex grant in 2008 helped Nextcourse plan a collaborative support network for women leaving jail, empowering this community of women to nurture and heal themselves through healthy eating and active lifestyles.  This planning effort resulted in the Soul Food Project. Rex executive director Sandy Sohcot recently had the opportunity to see the program in action–and participate as well.

Rex Helps Provide Soul Food for Women

Nextcourse classIn January 2008, the Rex Foundation was pleased to provide a grant to Nextcourse to support its community-building initiative for services to incarcerated women. Rex had earlier supported Nextcourse’s sustainable food education work, including nutrition education classes taught in the San Francisco women’s jail.
