Further Down the Road was established as a non-profit in 2020. The Mission is to preserve
author Ken Kesey’s original Furthur bus, with the aim of educating and inspiring current and
future generations about Kesey’s life, works, philosophy and art.
Over six decades, the Kesey Family and Friends, and Merry Pranksters, have nurtured the
legacy and bus(es). Since the formation of the non-profit, fundraising has been modest raising
$150,000. No funds have been spent; no work has proceeded on restoration. Members of the family have restored the family farm in Pleasant Hill, Oregon and established
a writing workshop there.
